(p. 118) "General David WATERBURY, son of John (No. 19) and Susanna
(Newkirk) WATERBURY, was born at Stamford, Conn. Feb. 12, 1722; died
at Stamford (p. 119) June 29, 1801. m. May 15, 1758, Mary
MALTBY, who was born in 1733. She died Nov. 7, 1810.
(p. 118) General David WATERBURY was a Veteran of the French and
Indian Wars, participating in six campaigns, and winning promotion
to the rank of Major.
In 1776, he was promoted to be a Brig-General, and led the
Connecticut Militia to Canada to reinforce that Army. He was taken
prisoner at the Battle of Valcour Island when he was second in command under Benedict Arnold. He was a prisoner three years.
Following the War he served twenty-three terms as Representative
of Stamford in the Connecticut legislature."

There is also a picture of a "party dress and slipper" of Molly
Waterbury; it is a charming brocaded satin, the bodice made with
elbow length sleeves, it is cut slightly low and features a front
of lace from which the brocade is turned back. A lace panel is
down the front of the skirt, which is hooped. The original was in
the New Haven Historical Society rooms.
